RYA Powerboat Level Two
- National Powerboat Certificate
| Minimum Age? | Twelve* |
| Previous Experience Required? | None |
| Duration? | Two Days |
| No.of Students per Boat? | Three |
A more detailed course than Powerboat Level One, over two days. It is designed to teach boat handling and seamanship skills in powerboats. In many cases, although it is suitable for novices, experienced hands find they can improve some of their skills and add to their knowledge.
As well as being the basis for an International Certificate of Competence (I.C.C.), it is a well recognised qualification in it's own right. As such it is often required by top insurance companies, and discounts may be offered to the holder.
The course is mostly practical with a short session ashore, each day. The syllabus includes:- Safety equipment and procedures
- High and low speed manoeuvring
- Rules of the Road
- Man Over Board procedure
- Mooring - buoys, anchors, alongside
- Introduction to charts, tides and navigation
