RYA Intermediate Powerboat
- Day Cruising Course
| Minimum Age? | Sixteen |
| Previous Experience Required? | Competent to Powerboat Level Two (Coastal)* |
| Duration? | Two Days |
| No.of Students per Boat? | Three |
The course is a fairly even mix of practical and theory, each day. The syllabus includes:
- Basic pilotage and passage planning for small boats
- Chartwork with the use of GPS and other electronics in small vessels
- Assessing tides and weather
As a further building block in the Powerboat scheme, it will cover some aspects of Level Two as revision. Therefore, following a Level Two course it makes sense to gain some experience and practice your skills before attending an Intermediate course. It is also open to those who may not have attended a Level Two, although suitable experience is required.
It is strongly recommended that candidates hold a VHF operator's certificate and suitable First Aid certificate.*
For the full course syllabus, please refer to the RYA Powerboat Scheme Logbook G20, available from Quay Marine Training.*Please call for details.
As a recognised RYA Training Centre for the RYA Powerboat Scheme and RYA (VHF) SRC Training, we offer quality courses as standard.
"By taking your course at an RYA Recognised Training Centre you can expect to be taught by an experienced, qualified instructor on seaworthy boats with a maximum of six trainees (depending on the level of course). Courses can be taken either onboard a centre’s boat or your own boat."
